AI CRO Tools (2026): What AI Conversion Rate Optimization Does, and 7 Tools by Job
What AI CRO means, the four jobs AI does in conversion rate optimization, and seven AI CRO tools sorted by job: Wingify (VWO), Optimizely, Kameleoon, Unbounce, Microsoft Clarity, Intelligems and Humblytics. Checked 3 November 2026.

The short answer: AI CRO means using AI to turn more visitors into customers. AI does four jobs: find the leak, build the test, route the traffic and judge the result. No one tool does all four best. Microsoft Clarity (free) finds problems. Wingify (VWO), Optimizely and Kameleoon use AI to plan and build tests. Unbounce routes visitors with Smart Traffic. Intelligems judges Shopify tests on profit. Humblytics lets your own AI agent read your funnels, ad spend and sales, draft tests you approve, and score them on revenue. Checked on 3 November 2026.
"AI CRO" also gets used for an "AI Chief Revenue Officer" (sales tools). This guide is about conversion rate optimization: getting more of your website visitors to sign up or buy.
The four jobs AI does in CRO
| Job | What the AI does | Tools strong at it |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Find | Spots where visitors drop off, rage-click or leave | Microsoft Clarity, Humblytics, Hotjar, FullStory |
| 2. Build | Writes test ideas and builds the new version of the page | Wingify (VWO), Kameleoon, Optimizely, Humblytics |
| 3. Route | Sends each visitor to the version most likely to convert | Unbounce Smart Traffic |
| 4. Judge | Reads the result and says which version won | Intelligems (profit), Humblytics (revenue), every test tool (conversions) |
The judge step matters most. A test that wins on clicks can lose on sales. Ask every tool: what is a win measured in?
The tools
1. Microsoft Clarity: best free tool to find problems
Free heatmaps and session recordings. Clarity's Copilot writes AI summaries of recordings and heatmaps, so you do not have to watch hundreds of sessions (clarity.microsoft.com/copilot). It does not run A/B tests.
Pick it if you have no budget and want to see where people get stuck.
2. Wingify (VWO): all-in-one testing with AI
VWO is now part of Wingify. Its agentic AI, Wingz, covers the loop from spotting friction to building experiments and reporting (vwo.com/ai), and it can generate A/B test ideas from a scan of your page. It also has heatmaps and session recordings.
Pick it if you want one established testing suite and have the budget for it.
3. Optimizely: enterprise experimentation
Optimizely's AI, Opal, and its agent platform work across its experimentation and content products (optimizely.com/ai). It is built for large teams with many tests, approvals and governance.
Pick it if you run a big testing program across many sites or apps.
4. Kameleoon: prompt-based tests
Kameleoon's Prompt-Based Experimentation (PBX) lets you describe a test in plain words, then build, set up and analyze the variant without always needing a developer (kameleoon.com/ai-ab-testing).
Pick it if you have lots of test ideas and the build step is your bottleneck.
5. Unbounce: AI traffic routing for landing pages
Unbounce's Smart Traffic sends each visitor to the landing page version most likely to convert for them, instead of a fixed 50/50 split. Unbounce also has an MCP server, so Claude or ChatGPT can build pages, manage A/B tests and turn on Smart Traffic (unbounce.com/product/mcp-server).
Pick it if you build paid-traffic landing pages in Unbounce.
6. Intelligems: profit-based tests for Shopify
Intelligems tests prices, shipping and offers on Shopify and reports profit per visitor, counting cost of goods, discounts and shipping (intelligems.io).
Pick it if you run a Shopify store and want to test prices, not just page copy.
7. Humblytics: CRO your own AI agent runs
Humblytics is website analytics, ad tracking and A/B testing for your AI agent. Instead of AI inside a dashboard, your own agent (Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor) does the work over a hosted MCP server.
- Find: your agent reads funnels, click and scroll heatmaps, pages, Meta and Google Ads spend and Stripe or Foxy revenue, and points to the page losing the most money.
- Build: it drafts a test. The no-code visual editor changes copy, buttons, images and layout; split URL tests are supported too.
- Judge: each version can be scored on a conversion or on the revenue it brought in through Stripe or Foxy.
- You stay in charge: a test goes live as soon as it is created, so the agent confirms the change, the page and the goal with you first. Tests stop after a set number of days (30 by default), not when a result looks significant. Keeping a winner is your call.
- Free to start: the first 25,000 data points and 1 site, no card. Then $39 once for 100,000 data points (Agents plan), or $79 and $279 a month for teams.
- Not for: session replay (use Clarity or Hotjar), or Shopify price testing (use Intelligems).
You can also try a free page audit on the homepage, which scores your page and drafts tests, and install 12 free marketing skills, including CRO and A/B test skills, from GitHub. See how AI CRO works with Humblytics.

What AI cannot fix
- Too little traffic. Detecting a 10% lift takes roughly 1,570 conversions per version, whether your conversion rate is 2% or 10%. Check yours with the test duration calculator.
- Bad tracking. If sales are not tracked, the AI optimizes clicks.
- Calling a test too early. A version that leads on day 3 often does not lead on day 30.
How to pick
- No budget: Microsoft Clarity to find problems, then a free A/B testing tool.
- You use Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor: Humblytics, so your agent finds the leak and drafts the test.
- Large testing team: Optimizely or Wingify (VWO).
- Paid landing pages: Unbounce.
- Shopify pricing: Intelligems.
